It happens more often than you think. However, this mural was up for 10 years before the next door neighbor decided to give it a fresh coat of paint!

Senseless acts breed violence.

This is not uncommon. Graffiti vandalism is dangerous business! Either the vandal is killed while "on the job" or killed by a rival tagger or a good samaritan is attacked for approaching a tagger. A line in the article states "It wasn't clear what sparked the conflict between both men." I can take a guess!
