I took a walk this morning. Just me and my iPhone. I walked. It kept track of my steps, my route and my heart rate. I sang. It kept the tunes coming. Using my phone I tweeted my favorite lyrics, found the closest starbucks  and skimmed over the latest headlines on my New York Times app. While reading, my eye caught sight of a nearby building that had been "redecorated" with a VERY noticeable tag right across the front face of the building. To the tagger that had used the spray paint to scrawl his name on the wall, this was a proud presentation. To the building owner, this was straightforward vandalism.

If I was a Phoenix resident - I could have grabbed my phone, snapped a picture of the tag, and submitted it to the Neighborhood Services Department! The next wave of iPhone apps are allowing residents to report graffiti and other blight vandalism to their local city officials.
